The teaching of Oceanography, at the undergraduate level, is structured in such a way as to enable the student to identify and understand the oceanographic processes, the interrelationships between the ocean and its main boundary compartments: the atmosphere, the emerged areas and the bottom current marine environments, and the socio-anthropological processes and socio-economic activities that influence and are influenced by the marine environment.
The pedagogical mechanisms to achieve this understanding are based on practices that favor the option of training professionals with a critical and integrated view of oceanographic processes, as opposed to the professional formed from the simple accumulation of information of technical/scientific content. In the professional training process of the Bachelor of Oceanography, emphasis is given to the integrated analysis of biological, physical, geological and chemical aspects of oceanographic processes, as well as practices aimed at solving problems of interest to society.
