The Graduate Program in Statistics at the Institute of Mathematics and Statistics of the University of São Paulo (IME-USP) consists of a Master's and a Doctorate, both created in 1970. It is part of the Academic Excellence Programs (Proex) group., from the Coordination for the Improvement of Higher Education Personnel (CAPES), which makes it possible to offer a large number of scholarships and grants for participation in events and congresses. In these more than 50 years of activity, the program has already trained more than 400 masters and 300 doctors.

The faculty is made up of specialists in several areas of Probability and Statistics, including modeling of complex and multidimensional systems, biostatistics, statistical learning (machine and statistical learning), risk analysis, survival analysis, time series, complexity and critical phenomena in neurobiology, particle systems, fundamentals of probability and statistics, asymptotic methods and regression models. Program professors coordinate or participate in prominent international research groups, which allows exchange of students and researchers in Brazil and abroad.
