The Zootechnician is a professional with a solid base of scientific knowledge, prepared to work in management, research or assistance to different animal production systems, adding value and optimizing the use of potentially available resources and socially, environmentally and economically adaptable technologies.
The field of activity of this professional has an important component in the nutrition, management and genetic improvement of domestic and wild animals. However, the duties of the Zootechnician go beyond the borders of rural properties, requiring, increasingly, knowledge about the dynamics of the agricultural market, processing and quality of products of animal origin, as well as planning, administration and technical-financial advice for public and private companies. Their training also allows them to work in educational and research institutions and breeders' associations, among others.
The Animal Science course is offered full-time, lasting nine academic semesters and one semester of supervised curricular internship.
