The Licentiate in Mathematics has a general core and entrance common to the Bachelor of Mathematics course. After the second semester, you can opt for it, or for both qualifications. The course aims to train Mathematics teachers for Elementary and High School and also future researchers and higher education teachers in the areas of Mathematics Education/Education, Mathematics and related areas. In addition, the skills and competences acquired throughout the course, through mandatory and optional subjects, and extracurricular activities, prepare graduates to occupy positions in the labor market outside the academic environment or, through later specialization, for example, in management school.

This course provides you with:

  • a solid background in higher mathematics content and in general and specific pedagogical disciplines in mathematics teaching, which allows graduates to access the most competitive competitions in the school network, or to follow their postgraduate studies (master's and doctorate) in various subsectors -related areas;
  • training in blocks of physics disciplines and in the areas of computation and numerical calculation, allowing you to use the computer as a work tool;
  • ability to apply their knowledge in an innovative way, accompanying the continuous evolution of teaching methodologies and technologies, as well as exact sciences, in a global vision of the same.
